I just got my hands on a Yamaha WR250f from 2001. I’m a two-stroke fan but I was told to try this out so I gave it a shot. Starting to regret it already...
There is something weird with it and I’ve tried everything (I know), been scouring thumpertalks archives for answers and checked off a couple of things written on the forum. But no results at all...

The bike:
YZF muffler - no leaks, sounds very good
Airbox mod - Open airbox.
YZF-throttle stop.
Jetting:
Main: 170
Pilot: 48
Leak: 72
No idea if this is the stock jetting.
The AP works, squirts fine.
The issue:
The bike is stuttering just as it supposed to hit the power top. I’ve attached a movie for you to watch and more easily figure out what the heck is wrong. The idle is perfect and it starts very easy, 1-3 kicks with no choke or throttle needed. When I let the bike idling for a while and make a WOT run it works fine throughout 1st-2nd gear. If I smoothly open the throttle the bike sometimes hit the revs correct.
If I rev it high in neutral everything is fine but it stalls completely after in a bogging sound ”BWAAAAAAHHH *dead*”.
My theory:
The bike are running too rich, it stinks of unburnt exhaust from it and it bogs off after I manage to hit the revs. Also when I close the gasoline valve / gas tap and running the carb dry it runs pretty good the last seconds before it stalls.
Things I’ve tried:
Cleaned the carburator completely 3 times. No clogged jets.
Rebuilt the carburator with all new gaskets and jets.
O-ring mod to the AP. Got rid of the classic WOT-bog but no results on the issue.
Tried the gray wire mod. No result so I put it back in.
Raised the clip on the needle two steps. A tiny tiny improvement on that one.
No leaks on the intake carburator rubbers. Tried with starter gas around it.
New spark plug. Nothing happened.
Bought one of these ”easy reach fuel mixture” screw and mixed. No result.
Changed air filter, low amount oil on it.
Tried running with both cold and hot choke but no difference.
Cleaned the tank and pour fresh gasoline in.
Swapped ignition coil, wire and hat.
New wiring harness.
I need your help. Anything. I've been trying to get this thing run properly for 3 whole days now. FRUSTRATING!
Can a jetting issue just happen over night? No big elevation differences from were I bought it from.
